Last week, OnePlus announced that it is going to unveil its first concept phone — right now now called OnePlus Concept One — at the upcoming annual trade show Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2020.
Ever since that was confirmed, there has been speculation on what the company could showcase in the form of its concept phone. A report by Korean Herald has claimed that the company could show its foldable-display smartphone at the event. The report cites “market watchers” and says that the design could be either like Motorola Razr or Samsung Galaxy Fold.
So far, there have been no leaks — neither in form of specs or images — for the alleged OnePlus Concept One so we would ask you take this information with a pinch of salt.
Foldable phones though gain the attention of the industry, but also come with their share of problems. On one hand we saw Samsung struggle to meet its target number of shipment units, Motorola has claimed that the company is facing more than expected demand for its Motorola Razr that has now led to delaye shipments. “Since its announcement in November, the new motorola razr has received unparalleled excitement and interest from consumers. Demand has been high, and as a result, has quickly outgrown supply predictions,” said the company.
As for Samsung, there are already reports that claim that the company is working on launching its second foldable phone in February. But unlike the first that costs $2,000, this could be cheaper with an aim to taking it to the masses. The company is reportedly going to price its next foldable phone a lot cheaper, at less than half the price of Galaxy Fold.
A previous report by The Korea Herald claimed that Samsung’s next foldable phone with a clamshell design may be priced at around 1 million won ($845) in the home country and expected to hit the markets early in the year 2020. This means the next Samsung foldable phone may be cheaper than Apple iPhone 11 Pro, which starts at $999.
